Activities in the area
There are good day-hike destinations and also longer routes near the cabins. The routes are also well-suited for mountain biking. There are several lean-to shelters and wilderness huts available for use along the routes.
Snowmobiling
There is an extensive route system for snowmobiling in Kuhmo, and two freeride areas. Kiekinkoski cabins are located near the Kuikka area. Click the link below to buy off-road traffic permits.

An area of 2,500 hectares in Koukkula–Kuikka area, on the eastern border of Kuhmo, is available for snowmobilers. The access to the area is via Kivikiekin tie road. The area is connected to the east border snowmobile trail network. There is a ploughed parking area on the south side where you can find a toilet, a campfire site and signposts.
